This J-FestGuide allow you to search Japanese Festivals (called Matsuri or Omatsuri (“o- sounds politer) in Japanese) very conveniently.
You can download J-FestGuide App from here (iPhone App). If you download app, you can receive notifications when new festivals or useful information are listed.

There are many types of Omatsuri existed in Japan, such as very traditional festivals held at shrines, fireworks, spring flower festival, summer bon-dance festival and local food events, etc.. Some of them are annual and  dates are fixed but some others are decided several months before the festival date. If you see the “Regular” tag, that means the Matsuri is held on the same day annually.

When you visit Japan, you dont want to miss participating any of Omatsuri because youll find more interesting fact about Japan by joining them :)

In this J-FestGuide, you can search Omatsuri by dates, areas, kind of festivals. You can share your favorite matsuri with your friends or family, schedule it in your digital calendar as well, Also, you can bookmark your favorite Matsuri and leave your rates and comments if you sign up!

What you can do with J-FestGuide:

  • Search Omatsuri by Dates, Months, Region, Categories (e.g. Fireworks, Food, Ritual, Unique, etc.)
  • View each Omatsuri video (via YouTube)
  • View each Omatsuri relevant photos (via Instagram)
  • Check each Omatsuri locations (by google map)
  • Omatsuri details (Date, time, Festival committees website url, phone no. and venue address)
  • Share the Omatsuri event by SNS
  • Add event schedule to your calendar (Google, iCal, Yahoo, Outlook) *iCal works only in Safari browser. 
  • Bookmark Omatsuri and leave rates & comments if you register via SNS or email
  • Receive a notification when a new festival is listed (you can turn off this function too)

How to use J-FestGuide

If you know when you visit Japan

  1. Select your language (from the App)
  2. Select dates
  3. Press Search
  4. Festival list held during your stay will be shown

If you search Omatsuri by region

  Please tap/click the region you want to search. List of omatsuri will be shown.

If you search by the type of Omatsuri

  After search Matsuri by region, choose the Omatsuri category from the pulldown menu.
