This festival is held every year on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in March. It is a 3-day festival held every year to announce the arrival of Spring to Tanba. The festival began in the Edo period and has a tradition of over 400 years. It has been handed down as a festival wishing for business prosperity and grain richness. The Hatsuuma Festival is said to have begun after the lord of Izushi Castle allowed the townsfolk to visit Inari Shrine inside the castle to worship once a year, on the day of Hatsuuma in February (according to the lunar calendar).
