This festival is held every year on the 13th day of the Lunar New Year calendar, so the exact day varies year-to-year. On the day of the festival, close to a thousand naked men in loincloths gather in the area around Owariookunitama Shrine. The masses of men carry long, thick ropes made from bamboo leaves that are tied together with their clothes. This symbolizes the ties of the prayers entrusted by the believers. The festival runs into the night, and remains lively the entire time.
