Renge-e・Kaerutobi (Frog Hopping) Festival

12:30 - 18:00

Held every year on July 7, Kinpusen-ji Temple’s Kaerutobi Festival (literally “Frog Hopping Festival”) is incredibly unique. There are drumming performances and portable shrines, but the main ceremony involves frog-men “hopping” to the temple to receive healing from priestly incantations. It is said to have originated from a symbolic story in Zao Buddhism.
