This popular festival celebrates Ebisu, one of the seven lucky Gods of Japanese mythology, responsible for prosperity and business. This festival is held nationwide, with the 3 biggest events located all in the Kansai region. The Imamiya Shrine is the most crowded one festival location, with over 1 million visitors on the main festival day. The most famous event is the selection of the fukumusume, or “lucky daughters,” who are chosen to give out lucky charms to festival visitors.
